Genomics Africa Fellow: Dr. Bernard Dandenault Mvula


Dr. Bernard Dandenault Mvula, PhD is a Biomedical Scientist (Molecular Biology) and Head: National HIV Reference Laboratory at the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM).

Dr. Bernard Dandenault Mvula is the head of the laboratory and was brought four young scientists to receive training on SARS-CoV-2 sequencing in order to increase genomics surveillance at the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM).

Duration of the fellowship: 11 to 26 September 2021.

Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT) and bioinformatics analysis.

Genomics Africa Fellowship: A program of CERI and partners at Stellenbosch and UKZN in collaboration with the Rockefeller Foundation and the Africa Centre for Diseases Control (Africa CDC).
