Dr Samuel Mundia Kariuki is a researcher at the University of Eldoret in Kenya.
Dr Samuel Mundia Kariuki came to this fellowship at KRISP at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and CERI at the University of Stellenbosch to receive training on SARS-CoV-2, HIV, TB and other pathogen sequencing to support the ongoing global effort of curbing the emergence of zoonotic viruses hence mitigating future outbreaks. Furthermore, the skills will support Kenya’s disease surveillance efforts and aid in generating information for updating her policies
Duration of the fellowship: 10 April 2023 to 21 April 2023.
Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and Illumina COVID-seq sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
