GENOMICS AFRICA FELLOW: PATRICK SEMANDA

Patrick Semanda is a researcher at the Central Public Health Laboratories, Ministry Of Health of Uganda.

Patrick Semanda came to this fellowship at KRISP at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and CERI at the University of Stellenbosch to receive training on SARS-CoV-2, HIV, TB and other pathogen sequencing to ensure timely genomic analysis of various pathogens to understand their origins and handling outbreaks through the establishment of targeted mitigation measures.

Duration of the fellowship:  10 April 2023 to 21 April 2023.

Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and Illumina COVID-seq sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
