GENOMICS AFRICA FELLOW: TIANGAY MARIAMA PATIENCE SALLAY KALLON

Tiangay Mariama Patience Sallay Kallon is a scientist at the Keneman Government Hospital in Sierra Leone.

Tiangay Mariama Patience Sallay Kallon came to this fellowship at KRISP at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and CERI at the University of Stellenbosch to receive training on SARS-CoV-2, HIV, TB and other pathogen sequencing to expand their skills in sequencing and analysis to apply to their genomic dataset on SARS-CoV-2 to monitor for variants of concern and identify novel variants, Lassa virus, and other pathogens that they may sequence.

Duration of the fellowship:  10 April 2023 to 21 April 2023.

Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and Illumina COVID-seq sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
