GENOMICS AFRICA FELLOW: VANE KWAMBOKA OMWENGA

Vane Kwamboka Omwenga is a researcher at KEMRI, the Walter Reed Project_ Kisumu, and Maseno University in Kenya.

Vane Kwamboka Omwenga came to this fellowship at KRISP at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and CERI at the University of Stellenbosch to receive training on SARS-CoV-2, HIV, TB and other pathogen sequencing to enhance their work in whole genome sequencing and multilocus sequence typing to characterize Leishmania.

Duration of the fellowship:  10 April 2023 to 21 April 2023.

Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and Illumina COVID-seq sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
