GENOMICS AFRICA FELLOW: CAROLINE JASMINE ABANTO ALVAREZ

Caroline Jasmine Abanto Alvarez is a research assistant at the Malaria Laboratory: parasite and vectors in the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.

Caroline Jasmine Abanto Alvarez came to this fellowship at KRISP in University of KwaZulu-Natal and CERI at University of Stellenbosch to receive training on SARS-CoV-2, HIV, TB and other pathogen sequencing in order to improve genomic surveillance and extend it to more infectious and neglected diseases in Peru.

Duration of the fellowship:  10 April 2023 to 21 April 2023.

Trained received: Hands-on sequencing on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and Illumina COVID-seq sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
