GENOMICS AFRICA FELLOW: Prettimore Mafirakureva

Prettimore Mafirakureva is a Senior Research Scientist at SIRDC’s Food and Biomedical Technology Institute (FBTI) in Zimbabwe. With an MSc in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology and a BSc Hons in Applied Biology and Biochemistry, she has extensive experience in livestock disease diagnosis, vaccine production, and research. Prettimore focuses on vaccines for diseases like January disease, Newcastle disease, blackleg, and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMDV). Her work, including antimicrobial resistance, sequencing, and bioinformatics, is published in journals such as Tropical Animal Health Production and Avian Diseases. She aims to pursue a PhD in vaccinology, genomics, bioinformatics, or genetics.
